GTA 6 Release Date: ESRB Rates M for Mature, Miami Heat Announces "Vice City Night" Ahead of Nov 19 Launch
Grand Theft Auto 6 has officially received an M for Mature rating from the ESRB, while the Miami Heat announced a "Vice City Night" event on November 18 — one day before the game's November 19, 2026 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
ESRB M rating confirmed
Rockstar Games updated the official GTA 6 store pages, revealing the ESRB's M for Mature classification. The rating cites "blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol."
The Australian and New Zealand PlayStation Store pages add more detail: frequent drug use, nudity and sex scenes, interactive nightclub dances, and realistic violence with dismemberment.
Miami Heat "Vice City Night"
The Miami Heat announced on October 2 that they are hosting "A Night in Vice City" to promote GTA 6. The event will transform the Kaseya Center for the November 18 game against the Milwaukee Bucks — the night before the game's release.
The arena will feature a special court design, new player uniforms, and a merchandise collection of T-shirts, hoodies and hats. The campaign kicked off October 1 with a neon "Welcome to Vice City" sign atop the arena.
PS5 firmware requirement leak
A datamine by PlayStation Game Size claims GTA 6 will require PS5 firmware 14.10.00.00 or newer at launch. Sony rolled out update 26.06-14.10.00 on October 1 with security fixes. Neither Rockstar nor Sony has confirmed the requirement.
New details from Love magazine
In an October 4 Love magazine feature, Rockstar described GTA 6 as "more over the top, more insane, more in your face" than real life. The state of Leonida is Rockstar's biggest, most densely packed map yet — featuring Vice City, Everglades-like swampland, hurricanes, and more than 170 animal species.
Lucia — the series' first fully voiced female protagonist — and Jason are described as the emotional center of the story: vulnerable, tough, and flawed.
